After the second World War, the United States became a global power. America dominated the world's economy and its military was the most powerful military in the world. However, America still claims that it is a "defender of free peoples". Despite of what America thinks of itself, its actions in the past few decades, if examined closely, can be seen as something far from what it claims to be. It had intervened several countries, such as China, Cuba, Mexico and Guatemala for America's own economic and militaristic benefits. During World War II, America nearly became a duplicate of the very thing it was fighting in Europe. Fascism. The government treated the Japanese Americans in the west coast like prisoners, completely violating their rights. America is not a "defender of free peoples", instead, its economy and military are its priorities, and this fake "defender of free peoples" can strip away the rights and freedoms of hundreds of thousands of people and relocate them elsewhere.
Before the second World War, the United States had intervened several countries, including China, Cuba, Mexico and Guatemala for America's own gain. In China, America forced an Open Door Policy on China, making sure that the US has equal imperial powers as the other countries that were exploiting China at the time. In Cuba, America had helped it gain its independence from Spain, only to plant in the island with military bases, investments, and rights to intervention. In addition, the United States of America violated the rights and freedoms of its own citizens when they decided to arrest the Japanese-Americans in the west coast and relocated them to prison camps in the interior. They got no hearing, no trial or anything whatsoever. How can America be a defender of freedom when it takes away the very things it claims to be defending from its own people?
In conclusion, the US's actions definitely does not show that America is a "defender of free peoples". It openly forced its way into China, telling them to "open their doors", and arrested and removed its own Japanese-American citizens for doing absolutely nothing wrong except for being Japanese. The United States of America is absolutely not a "defender of free peoples".
